Spike Lee: Reveals the Secret of His Success

Comments

Director/actor Spike Lee recently spoke in front of a swarm of students inside David Lawrence Hall at the University of Pittsburgh about finding the one thing they love and figuring out how to squeeze a viable career out of it, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. One of the few African-American filmmakers to achieve mainstream success, Lee received an invitation from the school’s Black Action Society and expressed that there is no such thing as an “overnight success.” He attributes his success to hard work and implored the students to stick with whatever makes them the happiest. Lee, whose films include “Do the Right Thing,” “Jungle Fever” and “Malcolm X,” took almost two years at Morehouse College before he realized he had a penchant for filmmaking. –WLW
