Underprivileged Teens: Turn to Cinderella Project for Prom Gown

Comments

For some teens going to the prom is costly extravaganza funded by mom or dads credit card, but for others like Gerica Preston from South Central Los Angeles the only way she can afford her dream dress is if it is donated to her. The Wall Street Journal reports that “Miss Preston’s hopes depend on the Cinderella Project, a local program that offers free dresses and shoes to girls who can’t by such things for themselves.” The program donated over 300 dresses to high schools students in South Central and Compton California in 2008, however this year less donations are coming through due to lack of corporate sponsorship in these tough economic times. -QS
