The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced their fashion award nominees and honorees, which include First Lady Michelle Obama, according to Women’s Wear Daily. Mrs. Obama is being honored by the CFDA for her willingness to wear and give international exposure to America’s design talent like Jason Wu, Maria Pinto and Michael Kors. “American fashion designers continue to express themselves with creative determination,” says Steven Kolb, executive director of the CFDA. “The beautiful clothes and accessories we have seen from the last two collections are a testament to their talent. And no one represents the American spirit of innovation and hard work better than this year’s roster of nominees and honorees.” The award ceremony will take place this summer at New York’s Lincoln Center Alice Tully Hall on June 15.—QS
