Housing Market: Segregation Cause of Housing Market Collapse

Comments

Racial segregation in America's neighborhoods played a prevalent role in the housing turmoil that rocked our economy this year, according to Reuters. More than 40 years since Blacks fought for inclusion in America and Congress enacted laws for fair practices, the National Commission on Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity finds African-Americans and other minorities continued to be denied regular loans for homes and were preyed upon for subprime loans. Their inability to maintain those loans led to the housing market's crisis which in turn led to the country's recession and increasing job loss.
