Author and lifestyle blogger Ty Alexander shares an emotional excerpt from her new book, "Things I Wish I Knew Before My Mother Died"
[BLANK_AUDIO] The spoilt little girl in me would still love to tell you that you could stop pain from ever investing in your life. The truth is pain is normal and no matter how much you think you shelter your heart, you will always experience some level of pain. [MUSIC] It's a part of being a human being. The next part of your journey should be learning how to repair that pain. And because we're human and feelings rule the world, we think that the story or the suffering is the most important part of the journey, instead of owning the emotion and moving forward. I'm Ty Alexander, and that was a excerpt from my book, Things I Wish I Knew Before My Mom Died. The biggest lesson that I want to tell you if you're grieving, is that you have to practice gratitude. Every morning, and every day I get up, and I think about all of the things that I'm grateful for. And that puts me back in the spot of love. If you have a friend that's maybe going through a similar situation, my biggest advice to you is to just listen to them. All we ever want to know is that we're heard and that you're there for us.
