[MUSIC] Hey hey essence.com, I'm Dana Blair and this is 7 things we're talking about. Harold Perrineau hit back at critics who say his biracial daughter should not play an African American character from the animated series on which the new film, Jem and the Holograms, one of my favorites when I was young. Is based. In a piece at The Wrap, he wrote that those opposed to 19 year old Aurora's casting have quote gone onto social media and spewed their vitriol directly at her. Some went so far as to suggest that she kill herself for taking the role. All without ever seeing her work in the role. All this anger is based solely on the color of her skin. And the pointed essay Perrineau age 52, known for his roles on Oz, Lost, and The Matrix asked readers to stop looking to Hollywood to define who we are and find ways that we can define ourselves. He hopes to inspire people pointing fingers at artists like his daughter, to use their creative energy to create characters that look, sound, and feel like yourselves. Up next, congratulations to Chris Rock, as he was announced as the host of the 2016 Oscars. This will be Rock's. Second time hosting the star-studded event. Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian, he's done it all. He's gonna be a phenomenal Oscar host. Simmons issued a statement saying that employees were working around the clock to solve the problem, and RushCard CEO Rick Savard blamed the glitch on transferring to a new processing system. The long awaited return of Adele did not Disappoint. Releasing her first single since the James Bond theme, Skyfall, three years ago, Adele's Hello has already made history as the first music video shot using IMAX cameras. But technology isn't the only reason fans have fallen in love with the video. Directed by Xavier Dolan The video stars the wire star Tristan [UNKNOWN] as Adele's ex. Some people abroad felt like Adele discovered a new face but we've been familiar with Tristan aka mac wild as a hottie. Go to essence.com to check out our gallery the 18 times mac wild look long before the Adele video. And last but certainly not least earlier this month [UNKNOWN] Obama toured Brown university but While she was there, photos went viral of her at a party where beer pong was being played, though there is no evidence that she partook in the game. Unsurprisingly, conservative media sites had a field day with the photos, forcing Brown student paper, the Brown Daily Herald, to issue an apology to the 17 year old. Reports the Root. I quote, Malia did not choose to grow up in the White House, and it is unfair that everything she does at just 17 years old is subject to harsh scrutiny. While the chances of her selecting Brown have probably decreased since the publication of those articles, if she does ever come back to Brown, hopefully next time we'll have way more chill.
