[BLANK_AUDIO] Hi, I'm April and you're watching Essence Live. [MUSIC] As a young woman, I'm inspired by my sister. [LAUGH] She inspires me to be who I am Not care about what other people think. My sister because she was the first woman fleet to go out in Iraq war and airforce. My mother. She's a hard working woman who puts a lot of people before her. Herself.>>Being bullied. I overcame it through the arts.>>My biggest challenge is actually going to college. And being like one of the few black women in chemistry. It's predominantly white male. And I face like a lot of discrimination. Questioning my intelligence. But I overcame it when I saw My grades and they were well and I realize I can actually do it. [MUSIC] Making move means move forward. Do it, like it's just, if there's a goal or a dream you want, it's not gonna be easy, but you gotta go out there and get it. It means to go for whatever you want to do, even if there are a lot obstacle And society telling you you cant do it, it cant be what you wanna be. Just go for it anyway. My grandmother. Just because she takes care of everyone. And I feel like she just, kind of, embodies that spirit of community. I go to Mega Evers college. [MUSIC] Which is then Brooklyn. We have really good mentors, really good professors, so, you know, they're very encouraging. Don't settle. Don't be nervous because that means you're about to do some. Something phenomenal.>> If you can see the invisible, you can do the impossible. [MUSIC] .>> I know what I want and I know I'm going to get it. Because I'm figuring it out. I'm a queen because I am black and beautiful. I am a queen because I am me. [MUSIC] [BLANK_AUDIO]
