The controversial Dakota Access Pipeline has left Native Americans dismayed and upset as the pipeline will destroy sacred land and threatens to contaminate the water supply of a treaty-protected reservation.

As the protest moves into the mainstream, celebs and activists have become more and more vocal about the damage the pipeline will do and how history seems to be repeating itself as Native Americans face the possibility of having sacred land ripped away from them.

Willow and Jaden Smith joined the protest recently with Willow sharing video and images from the protest. “Can’t drink oil <#NODAPL>,” she captioned a video shared to Instagram.

Jaden was also seen alongside his sister and protestors as they picketed with signs reading “Protect Our Water.” The pipeline is expected to bring crude oil through the Standing Rock Sioux reservation.

Peaceful protestors have been met with militarized law enforcement and over 100 protestors have been arrested so far. Willow also posted a drawing that depicts Native Americans and law enforcement at odds with the hashtag #nodapl.

As news about the protest heats up, we hope things remain peaceful and that Native Americans are able to save their land and water from being destroyed.
