Each week, news outlets are treated to more teasers from the set of Lifetime’s upcoming Whitney Houston biopic, I Will Always Love You.
TMZ has obtained what they are calling an exclusive clip of Deborah Cox’s cover of Houston’s hit “I Will Always Love You” from The Bodyguard soundtrack. Cox has been hired to help cover tracks for the film’s production. The much-anticipated TV movie will serve as a directorial debut for veteran actress Angela Bassett.
Fans had mixed reactions when they saw a first look at stars YaYa DeCosta and Arlen Escarpeta in character as Houston and ex-husband Bobby Brown during the height of their love story and they still appear to be somewhat divided on whether or not Cox should be the singer to cover Houston’s one-of-a-kind vocals.
Cox and Houston teamed up vocally once before back in 2000 for the duet “Same Script, Different Cast,” and at the time, some fans believed that with their similar vocal range and equal talent, it was at times almost impossible to differentiate between their voices on the track. Listen to the snippet from the new cover and tell us what you think.
