The Southern Poverty Law Center is calling out the hateful basis of the White Lives Matter organization.
Less than a week after the outwardly racist group stormed the Houston NAACP offices waving rifles and confederate flag banners, the SPLC is taking steps to have them officially declared a hate group.
“I can’t speak to how many chapters will be listed, but it’s clear that the leadership of the group, the ends of the group ― it’s just a flat-out white supremacist group,” SPLC Central Intelligence Report Director Heidi Beirich told the Houston Chronicle. “The ideology behind it, the racist leaders, everything about it is racist.”
The center plans to have White Lives Matter added to their “Hate Map” which keeps a detailed tracking of hate group activities across the country.

Unlike the Black Lives Matter movement, which welcomes all races and does not promote separatism or elitism, White Lives Matter clearly aims to divide citizens based on race and operate in accordance with values rooted racism and prejudice. Beirich says given what the group stands for, it’s clear who is really running their show.
“We are listing them because they are clearly white supremacists,” she told VICE. “Their motto should be ‘only white lives matter.’
White Lives Matter will be added the SPLC’s list of hate groups during the next update of their Hate Map in February 2017.
