The physical chains may have disappeared, but the emotional and institutional bondage that resulted from the enslavement of African-Americans continue to impact the Black community organizers in Connecticut are arguing, according to the Connecticut Post. The Anti-Defamation League has already gotten some support for a resolution for the state to officially acknowledge and apologize for the institution and racism. Connecticut will become the first New England state to acknowledge wrongdoings when it comes to race, if lawmakers approve the resolution. Seven states have already passed similar legislation and four are currently considering. —CJ
