After firing staffers earlier this month, rumors are swirling that there’s someone else on the chopping block: Wendy Williams’ husband and manager Kevin Hunter.
A source revealed exclusively to B. Scott that executives want Kevin out and they allegedly have Wendy’s full support. According to a source, Kevin, who is an executive producer for The Wendy Williams Show, “makes all the decisions and has become more and more controlling as the show has become a success. He insists that all show questions be run by him.” Another reason for the alleged ousting is that the couple is facing marital problems.
‘Wendy Williams Show’ Staffers Fired for Her Comments About the NAACP
“Wendy is in full support of his exit amid their major marital problems. Things have gotten so bad that she is seriously considering filing for divorce,” one source revealed.
Last month, Williams stirred up controversy when she stated, “I would be really offended if there was a school that was known as a historically white college,” following Jesse Williams’ speech at the BET Awards, where he called out HBCUs and the NAACP. “We have historically Black colleges. What if it was the National Organization for White People only? There’s the NAACP,” the talk show host added. The talk show host faced immediate backlash, staffers were fired, and Williams issued an apology. Since then things have been tense on set.

Hunter has allegedly had Williams change her cell phone number so she is not as accessible to the many staffers on the show. “He’s also hired her a new driver, who reports to him,” said one source, “Things have gotten so intense at the show that producers have been warned that all scripts must go to Hunter before Williams can even read them. And Hunter must approve all the ideas for segments and celebrity guest bookings.”
The source goes on to wonder why Williams doesn’t just fire her husband, adding that he’s making everyone miserable and that the show would be better without him. The Wendy Williams Show is renewed through 2020, but if rumors about what’s going on behind the scenes are true, then it’s going to be a tough couple of years if they can’t figure things out ASAP.
