How much are you shelling out on your friend’s wedding gift?
Nowadays wedding gifts are costing an average $200 per guest according to RetailMeNot and Kelton Global.
The national survey conducted by RetailMeNot and Kelton Global found that 41% of invited guests will buy a wedding gift whether they attend the ceremony or not.
It already expensive to attend weddings due to costs for flights, hotel rooms and even meals. Depending on your relationship with the couple, you may spend a pretty penny on the gift you choose, too.
The poll showed that for co-workers, people spent a little less than $63, people spend an average of $89 for a friend’s wedding, and if it’s a relative people will spend more than $195.
Although a registry is available most couples really just want some cash. According to Sara Skirboll, Shopping and Trends Expert with RetailMeNot.com, “The times are definitely changing when it comes to gift giving. And while, yes, the couple definitely puts together a registry for a reason, there are a lot of couples who really would prefer cash.”
Next time you are planning to buy a gift, try cutting cost by getting a group together for a big purchase. That way you can get a great gift without breaking the bank.
