Earlier today, former South African President Nelson Mandela was laid to rest in his childhood hometown of Qunu.

The first service, including a two-hour processional, began on Saturday at 10 p.m. ET. Then a small gravesite service was held at 4 a.m. ET (Sunday).

The private service closed out a 10-day mourning period for South Africans, which included a mega memorial at Soweto’s soccer stadium.

The funeral was closed to the public and accommodated many of Mandela’s family, close friends, over 70 heads of state and distinguished guests from around the world.

Tune in to see how the world bid farewell to Nelson Mandela.
