The outcome of the Virginia Governor’s race is sure to be a crucial one in the wake of the “Unite the Right” white supremacist rally that descended upon Charlottesville in August, leaving one person dead and up to 19 others injured.
Comedic actress Wanda Sykes is joining forces with fellow actor John Leguizamo and the New Virginia Majority orgazniation to lend her voice as an advocate for the Democratic candidates in the running, reminding voters of the dangers of electing Republican candidate and Trump-endorsee Ed Gillespie into office as the state’s next Governor. In a new PSA released just ahead of Tuesday’s elections, Sykes urges Virginia residents to take a stand against the Trump Administration’s failure to immediately condemn white supremacy by voting democrat at the polls.
“When the violence of White Supremacists in Charlottesville Virginia shocked the nation, Republican president Donald Trump failed to condemn it,” Sykes says in the 80-second clip. “In Virginia, the Republican candidate for Governor, Ed Gillespie, who has been endorsed by Donald Trump, has been complicit.”
