Rising film director Ava DuVernay has already won the attention of Oprah Winfrey. Now DuVernay is planning to capture the attention of sports fans everywhere.
According to EURweb, DuVernay will direct a new ESPN documentary, entitled Venus VS, about Venus Williams’ “fight for fair pay at Wimbledon.”
The project is one of nine documentaries all focused on women and is slated to appear on ESPN in the spring of 2013. Also, all of the documentaries in the mini-series will be directed by women.
Not only is Venus VS produced by DuVernay herself, but Howard Barish, Robin Roberts, Jane Rosenthal are jumping on board as executive producers.
