In pouring rain, Tiger Woods pulled his first tee shot 50 yards into the rough before making an improbable par on his opening hole Thursday morning at Bethpage Black, according to Yahoo!Sports.com. His shot was so far off that he considered a second attempt from the same tee. The rain, which forecasters warned would have an affect on the tournament, was even too much to handle for the No. 1 player. After recovering his first hole, his crew tried hard to guard his 18th hole, which is the biggest issue. Due to the rain expected throughout the weekend, the U.S. Open rough is becoming “borderline-impossible.”—Shavon S. Greene
