The White House has come out in support of Social Secretary Desiree Rogers following the security lapse that caused Michaele and Tareq Salahi to crash the Official State Dinner a few weeks ago.
Rogers is under fire from Republicans who say she was too busy socializing to attend to her job. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs calls the accusations unfounded. At the House Homeland Security Committee hearings this week, Secret Service director Mark Sullivan took the blame, even citing that the three officers who failed to stop the Salahi’s have been placed on administrative leave.
Former White House Social Secretary Capricia Marshall also defended Rogers, saying she only sat down for a “total of about five minutes…She worked around the clock; she did what she had to do,” Marshall told the Washington Post.
