Media mogul Tyler Perry posted the first new message on his website since his mother passed away on December 8 at age 64.
“A few months ago, I said I was taking off the rest of 2009,” Perry writes, “the reason for that, although I didn’t say it at the time, was so I could spend my mother’s final days at her side. I am so glad I did. It made all the difference in the world to me.”
He continues, “As you know, my mother was the apple of my eye, so this has been difficult to say the least… All I’ll say is this, take care of your mothers…you only get one.”
He also releases new info on his new Madea play titled “Madea’s Big Happy Family.” which is on tour. The first date will be January 4th in El Paso, Texas. This will be Perry’s first time on stage in five years.
Perry describes his excitement to be back in front of a live audience, “Trust me when I tell you, I need to laugh and make you laugh even harder. All I want to say is that if you have not seen Madea live on stage, you haven’t seen Madea at all.”
