Tupac’s biopic has yet another new director.
Music video/commercial director Benny Boom has signed on to spearhead the story of the late rapper’s life, Hollywood Reporter announced.
“I am blessed with the opportunity of a lifetime. Telling the story of this revolutionary, artist, visionary, genius, soldier! I will make him proud and uphold the legacy,” he wrote in an Instagram caption.
Boom takes over duties from Carl Franklin who signed on execute the Morgan Creek-produced flick.
This isn’t the first time the film has had to make changes to who is in the director’s chair.
In April, Boyz N the Hood director John Singleton left the project and announced on Instagram that the decision was made because “the people involved aren’t really respectful of the legacy of Tupac.”
The movie has yet to begin filming but must begin production before the end of the year or the musical rights for the score will revert back to Shakur’s mother, Afeni Shakur.
Here’s to hoping this directorial decision is a good fit!
