Trayvon Martin Investigator Plans Special Announcement

Florida State Attorney Angela Corey plans to announce "new information" regarding the investigation.
Florida State Attorney Angela Corey, the special prosecutor in the Trayvon Martin case, is scheduled to make an announcement soon. Corey told the media to be on standby and ready for a press conference within the next 72 hours.

According to a press release, the prosecutor will have “new information” regarding the ongoing investigation into the shooting death of unarmed, 17-year-old Martin. At this time, it’s unclear if Corey will bring charges against Martin’s killer George Zimmerman, who’s since left Florida, but the not country.

The news comes one day after Zimmerman’s lawyers quit, saying he had been deliberately ignoring phone calls, emails and text messages from his legal team. Zimmerman even went so far as to call Fox News’ Sean Hannity without consultation.

On Monday, Corey announced she would not be taking the case before a grand jury. The decision of whether or not to file charges against Zimmerman rests completely in her hands.

Martin family lawyer Benjiman Crump responded to the grand jury cancellation news by saying, “We are not surprised by this announcement and, in fact, are hopeful that a decision will be reached very soon to arrest George Zimmerman and give Trayvon Martin’s family the simple justice they have been seeking all along. The family has been patient throughout this process and asks that those who support them do the same during this very important investigation.”
