Is there a rivalry between Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin? Soul legend Aretha Franklin has lashed back at her equally legendary counterpart Tina Turner for commenting about her in a recent interview with USA Today. According to the Associated Press, when USA Today asked Turner to comment about Franklin feeling miffed when Beyoncé referred to Turner as “the Queen” during the Grammy Awards this year. Turner simply stated: “She’s the Queen of Soul, and I’m the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” adding, “her ego must be so big to think she was the only one.” Franklin says that Turner was only talking about herself. Surprisingly, the legendary greats have never met.
