An eight-year-old boy that was trying to protect his sister from being molested has succumb to severe injuries days after the perpetrator attacked him with a hammer.
Dante Daniels caught his mother’s ex-boyfriend Deandre Chaney Jr. “committing a lewd act” on his seven-year-old sister, according to police reports. Chaney Jr. then attacked the third-grader with a hammer, before using the same hammer to attack the little girl and their mother Elizabeth Salone.
“Trying to save his sister from this child molester, and that’s why he was beat the worst,” said Dante’s grandmother, Monique Brown.
Dante was declared brain dead after the attack earlier this month, and died less than a week later. His sister and mother survived despite some severe injuries.
Chaney Jr. is facing murder and attempted murder charges as well as charges related to the molestation of the seven-year-old sister.
A GoFundMe funfdraiser that has raised over $23,000 has been created for the family.
