We’ve come a long way baby, uh-huh. Top Black celebrities have moved beyond campaigns for fast food and brew to endorse a wider variety of wares. Nowadays we see top African-American celebs endorsing high fashion and luxury products. Could it be the Obama effect? Or perhaps it’s because the annual report by the Selig Center for Economic Growth shows that the buying power of African-Americans totaled $845 billion in 2007, and is projected to top $1.1 trillion by 2012. We know celebrity sells, but now more than ever we are proud of how much specifically Black celebrity sells to not only Black people, but to most in our multi-cultural world. We’ve noticed how advertisers are investing more money into using people of color to push and promote their products. Here are the Black celebs you’ll be seeing in the ad campaigns of 2010.
