The New Miss America 2010 Is Black

There she is...Caressa Cameron, the new Miss America. The 22-year-old Miss Virginia (she is a native of Fredericksburg) was crowned the top title tonight in Las Vegas. She wowed the judges and audience in every category--her social issue for the competition was "Real Talk: HIV/AIDS in America" and she performed "Listen" from "Dreamgirls." Cameron, a broadcast journalism major at Virginia Commonwealth University who has her sights on becoming a news anchor, won a $50,000 scholarship and the crown. She is the 8th Black Miss America in the 89 year history of the pageant.
