PEOPLE reports that Cunningham finished second in trials coming up behind three-time Olympian and American record-holder Chaunte Lowe.
According to Sports Illustrated, if Cunningham wins a medal at the Olympics, she’ll be the youngest track and field athlete to do so since 1972.
