In 2003 Bey had just released her debut solo album Dangerously In Love and to celebrate her independence she turned up the heat for her back to back VMA performances of smash hits “Baby Boy” featuring Sean Paul and “Crazy In Love” featuring Jay-Z (who joined his ladylove on the stage.)
Their performance was hot, hot, hot and proved to the MTV crowd that Jay and Bey were a force to be reckoned with and totally here to stay.
In 2004, Jay-Z and Beyoncé returned to the VMAs to shine once again.
One thing we love about Jay and Bey is that they know the camera’s always watching. Even in their seats at the 2004 VMAs they were picture perfect.
In 2006 after launching her performance from the ceiling as she glided down to the stage in a trench coat, Beyonce shed the coat and show and let Sasha Fierce takeover the stage.

In 2007 Beyonce was nominated for Video of the Year for “Irreplaceable,” but ultimately she lost to Jay-Z and his then protégé Rihanna for their hit “Umbrella.”
A year after she became Mrs. Carter, Beyoncé performed her smash hit “Put A Ring On It” on stage at the 2009 VMAs. The video for the song earned her nine nominations that year and three wins.

In 2011 Beyoncé brought a very special surprise date to the VMA red carpet — her beautiful baby bump! Twitter nearly shut down with #Beyhive buzz and congratulatory messages.
The singer followed up her announcement with an extra special performance of “Love on Top” at the 2011 MTV Music Awards. Her hubby couldn’t contain his joy!
In 2014, Jay-Z and Baby Blue Ivy joined Beyoncé at the VMAs where she performed a medley of all the hits from her record-breaking album, Beyoncé, and received the prestigious Vanguard Award.
