Style 24-7: Mom On-The-Move

Take style notes from the 32-year-old singer, wife and mom on how to stay chic from birth to baby bump.

By Celia L. Smith · September 2, 2013October 27, 2020
01
Work It!

Rule #1: Try shopping for larger women’s size styles before making the leap to maternity clothes. You are more apt to find trendier pieces like Bey’s zip-front bodycon dress as opposed to mundane designs specifically made for moms-to-be.

02
To The Max

A maxi dress has an easy-breezy vibe while making you still feel pretty and polished. Added accessories like Mrs. Carter’s chic shades, statement necklace, manageable platforms (if you dare), and a belt (to define the waist) ups the ante on this simple style.

03
Pop Goes The Diva

Heading to the office was always a fashionable fete for the pregnant diva! This blue ensemble (an early hommage to baby blue) is easier than it looks. Black staples like a T-shirt, skinny jeans and heels lay the foundation of the look, but a fab scarf and equally hot matching jacket are key to making the look pop.

04
Rock Mom

A flowy printed blouse balanced by skinny jeans is a fool-proof formula for a fashionable mom. It’s comfy and super chic. We suggest swapping Bey’s towering stilettos for walkable wedges.

05
Following Patterns

Once Blue was officially on board, Beyonce simply traded her platforms for fab loafers –– but her look was anything but flat. With a sister like Solange, Bey knows the power of prints. Find a comfy pair of trousers and instead of basic black, go bold!

06
Party Pants

Beyoncé makes running errands with baby Blue look super chic in yet another pair of fun patterned pants.

Tailor Made

Another rule: When all else fails K.I.S.S. (Keep It Sweet and Simple). On a busy morning, being stylish may be the last thing on your mind so make sure you have those easy to reach for classic closet staples that fit well. A sleek trench coat and tailored trouser will go a long way.

Stylish Moves

The singer makes being a mom look anything but boring, and so should you! Whip out your fun fur and a comfy, cute kitten heel for an instant chic night-out-on-the-town with baby.

A Leg Up

Maneuver through the little extra baby weight with a pair of fab faux leggings, they look just like the real thing with less of an investment if your size changes. Plus leather leggings make your look instantly super luxe.

Breezy Bey

A day at the park calls for fun, fuss-free pieces that allow for movement. Bey’s flowy tank and loose cullout shorts is the perfect example. Throw in a hot hat, which is a quick fix when you don’t have time to pull your hair together.

11
Bottoms Up!

Coverage is key at the beach! Replace your bikini bottom with a cute printed short for all of the bending and swimming you and baby will be doing.

Bold Moves

The singer finds ways to bring her eye-catching stage style to the streets. But, instead of glitter and crystals, Bey sports bold brights that still have mega impact.

Mommy Must-Have

According to Beyonce, a definite chic mom must-have includes a cool hat for bad hair days and over-sized shades for tired eyes. No one will ever know.

Beach Babes

Make beach days a breeze in a fun tank top, cut-off shorts and skippies. Small accessories like colored pair of sunnies and a head piece (or even a head wrap) can totally transform your look.

Double Time

Flowy tunics are a girl’s best friend in the summer time and  you can get more bang for your buck from a pretty printed style like Beyonce’s when doubled as a cover-up on the beach or a dressy top with shorts.
