Study Reports Troubling Stats for Black Women

Domestic abuse is a tough reality for many Black women. A study at The Violence Policy Center, a national nonprofit that conducts research on violence in the U.S., finds that 551 African-American women were murdered by males in 2006. The study, “When Men Murder Women: An Analysis of 2006 Homicide Data.” Also, the Chicago Defender reports that of those homicides in 2006 where a weapon was used, 305 of those victims were fatally shot and most during an intense argument. Overall, White women calculated for the highest total of those killed.
