A group of extraordinary student athletes have now become the latest to rally behind 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in support of his powerful protest against the national anthem.

Three ladies from the West Virginia University Techwomen’s volleyball team kneeled in solidarity with Kaepernick as the Star Spangled Banner played just before a recent game on Wednesday night and the message in their actions echoed loud and clear throughout the school gym.

WVU Tech Black Student Union president Keyonna Morrow was one of the three players who participated in the show of support for Kaepernick and she says it was an important gesture to make. “He’s exercising his right to choose to sit or stand, so you have to recognize that he’s got that right,” Morrow told WCHS TV. “I hope that it just makes people reconsider before they judge someone for something.” Morrow later added that she was proud to join her teammates in taking a stand and bringing awareness to the fight for eqality. “Everyone should be treated equally, no matter their color age, sex anything. Everyone needs to be on one page, everyone needs to be treated the same way,” she concluded.
