Today’s topic: At the beginning of the wrong path Dear Shirly and Steve, I really hope you can help me with this. I am a single mother raising two girls ages 8 and 18. My 18-year-old has never given me any problems until mid-2009. I just found out that she has an STD. I always told my children they can come talk to me about anything. Now I don’t know if I reacted wrongly or what, but I am very angry with her right now. It was simply poor judgement on her part. The way I reacted was I told her that since she thinks she is grown, then do what grown people do and pay for her own medicine. Should I have reacted a different way? I am so upset with her I can’t even look at her. How is her little sister supposed to look up to her as a role model? Oh, by the way, she don’t know who she may have gotten it from, she has been active with three different boys. She sure didn’t get that from me. I am 41-years-old and in my lifetime only had sex with two dfferent guys. We need women to do what you do for the young boys.
