Every day we feature the beloved “
Strawberry Letter” franchise that is so popular on “
The Steve Harvey Morning Show,” heard nationwide. Send in your letters and Shirley Strawberry will dish out the necessary advice.
Today’s topic: Can’t get out Dear Steve and Shirley, I am a 48-year-old man, married for 17 years. My wife and I love each other dearly, but we just don’t see eye-to-eye on anything anymore. We have four kids together and are struggling to make ends meet. Our debt to income ratio is in the red. We’ve tried to make it work for the last 10 years. We have a home and three hoopties. If we divorce, I’m positive we’ll lose our home, I’ll have to pay in excess of 1000-a-month, which won’t allow me enough to get an apartment and live a single life. My wife is so stubborn; she won’t listen to me and continues to dig us deeper into debt. I love her to death, but I’m tired of giving, and giving and not receiving. She gets angry when I get on her case, and we know how it is when a woman is angry! So I try to avoid doing that just to keep peace. If I divorce her, I’ll be broke and I’ll probably be forced to live with my mom. I’d rather die than do that. But if I stay, then I’ll be unhappy for eternity. What can I do?
