Every day we feature the beloved “Strawberry Letter” franchise that is so popular on “The Steve Harvey Morning Show” heard nationwide. Send in your letters and Shirley Strawberry will dish out the necessary advice. Today’s topic: DNA test proves I’m not the father I am a 35-year-old single parent. I am writing to you all because I am getting a lot of backlash since I found out that I was not the biological father of another child through a DNA test. My own mother has betrayed me. She wants to continue to believe that he is her biological grandson, even though I showed her the results of the test. The mother of the child has convinced her there was sabotage involved. The DNA test is 99.999% accurate. I took the test in 2004 and since then I began seeing the child less and less because his mom doesn’t want me too involved in his life anymore. Unbeknownst to her, I was secretly seeing him and taking him places with the help of my brother. I did that because I did not want to deal with any of her nonsense. Since then, I have been taken to court for child support even though she knows I am not the father and she is married to someone else. I admit that his mother and I may have said some things to each other out of anger. But all I wanted to know was if the child was mine or not. Also, my mother has been a catalyst in the back and forth drama and seems more concerned about the mother’s well-being than mine. I have accepted the fact that I no longer have a mother in her, but just want to move on with my life, family, and future without the drama. I even asked the mother if she wants to take another DNA test since she believes there was sabotage involved and she still has not given me an answer. I believe it’s partly because she wants to continue this madness while getting child support. There are a lot more details to this story, but I wanted to give you the gist of it. Please advise.
