Every day we feature the beloved “Strawberry Letter” franchise that is so popular on “The Steve Harvey Morning Show,” heard nationwide. Send in your letters and Shirley Strawberry will dish out the necessary advice. Today’s topic: I lied Hello Steve, I am really new to this, but I have a horrible situation, which I’d like to discuss. I am 29 years old and I had been dating a man for about four months. Things were wonderful. I have sincerely never felt this way about anyone I have ever dated before in my adult years. Recently, we just discovered that we knew a mutual person. That person knew something about my prior dealings with an unfavorable man who was in a lot a trouble. Even though my involvement with this person was very brief (maybe 3 weeks) I was embarrassed and ashamed that a woman like me would have dealt with a person like that and wanted to move on from and leave it in the past. So when the guy I was currently with asked me had I dealt with him, I emphatically denied that situation in my pass, hoping that it would never get brought up again. Well he would not let it go and asked me repeatedly if I dealt with this guy and after the constant badgering I confessed. He is very upset and refuses to speak with me because I originally lied in the first place. What should I do? Should I move on and forget about him? Or should I beg for his forgiveness and hope and pray that he comes back after my sincere apology? Sincerely, Asking for forgiveness
