‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Star John Boyega Says His Friends Thought He Was An Extra

The filming of Star Wars: The Force Awakens was top secret. So top secret that the film’s star John Boyega’s friends had no idea that he had such a big role.

During a visit to The Tonight Show, Boyega told Jimmy Fallon that his friends were surprised after attending the premiere, reports People

“I took them to the London premiere and after the premiere they were just like, ‘Yo, John, I never knew you were in the movie for so long – I thought you were an extra!’ ” Boyega, 23, shares. “I’m like, all this time I was leaving from Monday to Friday, what did you think I was doing, man, for two years?”

The budding star went on to reveal that he’d be making a few visits to theaters across New York City to show his appreciation.

“I’m gonna go over to a few theaters in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and I’m gonna meet some people, you know, just say thank you,” he says. “This is big, and I feel the love, I really, really do.”

True to his word, fans shared a photo of him on Facebook at Williamsburg Cinemas in Brooklyn.
