The flick will follow the next generation of family members, who must re-learn how to appreciate family.
Almost 20 years after we fell in love with Soul Food, Fox 2000 is serving up more.
The production company told the Hollywood Reporter that a Soul Food sequel, tentatively titled More Soul Food, is in the works. Even better? George Tillman Jr., who wrote and directed the original film, will be penning the new script.
And to that, let us say, “Amen”!
In case you somehow missed it, the original film, starring Vivica A. Fox, Nia Long, Vanessa Williams, Mehki Phifer and Michael Beach, followed a family following the death of its matriarch. Three years after its release, the movie, which grossed $43.7 million, was turned into a Showtime series, which ran for four seasons.
The upcoming sequel will follow the next generation of family members who must learn to come together sans the help of elders. No release date has been announced.
