Soledad O’Brien wants to give young girls a chance to achieve their dreams.

Through the Soledad O’Brien Brad Raymond Foundation, the CNN anchor hopes to provide “promising young women a bridge between obstacles and opportunities.”

O’Brien and her husband Brad Raymond have quietly funded scholarships for young women from their personal funds for years, but now they’re taking their initiatives public with the hopes of inspiring others to donate to the cause.

This weekend the couple will host a live jazz charity event billed as “New Orleans in the Hamptons” to help raise funds for their cause. Pharrell Williams and Cecily Tyson are also helping to raise money for the foundation.

The Board’s Selection Committee will open the application and intake process early next year. Scholarships will be made available to young girls ages 15 through 21 years old.

We always love to see celebrities giving back. If you’d like to support the foundation,  or for more submission details and criteria, please visit obrienraymondfoundation.org.
