Changes are coming to your nightly TV lineup. The NBC hit musical show, Smash, which occasionally guest starred Jennifer Hudson and NeNe Leakes’ New Normal have been dropped from the network.
NBC bid farewell to its freshman comedy The New Normal, on which Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes co-starred on. The show, from Glee producer Ryan Murphy, chronicled the life of a gay couple trying to start a family. It struggled in the ratings department. Leakes kept things positive on Twitter: “I love my fairy God Mother @MrRPMurphy & @AliAdler 4 believing n me & givin me an amazing opportunity! No mo New Normal but we r forever.”
The network also announced that Broadway-musical themed drama Smash will end for good after the season two May 26th finale episode. Hudson joined the show’s cast at the beginning of the season playing a veteran Broadway star. Fans rallied to keep the show alive when the season’s ratings dropped, but their best efforts have failed. Smash also starred Debra Messing, former American Idol contestant Katherine McPhee and Megan Hilty.
