The Shield actor Michael Jace has been officially charged with one count of murder in the shooting death of his wife, April Jace.
According to TMZ, Jace, 51, now faces 50 years to life in state prison if he is convicted.
Jace called 911 on Monday evening after the shooting, telling police that he pulled the trigger. April was already dead when police arrived at the couple’s Hyde Park area home in Los Angeles.
April Jace, 40, died of “multiple gunshot wounds” preliminary autopsy results revealed. The death was ruled a homicide by the Los Angeles County coroner.
Jace’s two sons were at the home at the time of the alleged murder. The boys are now living with relatives, according to police.
Although investigators have found no reports of domestic violence between the couple a police statement this week said, “At this moment, the motive of the murder is believed to be domestic violence.”
Jace is being held on $2 million bail, he is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
