The first-year California senator weighed in on Twitter on the contributions of women

Senator Kamala Harris took to Twitter on International Women’s Day to ask her followers to reflect on what the world would be like without trailblazing women.

From Harriet Tubman to Serena Williams, the California senator reflected on these women and their input in tweets throughout Wednesday.

“I ask everyone to look at the role of women in our society and realize what a day without women would actually mean,” she said.

She went on to commemorate these and women around the country who have stood up for women's rights, including those taking part in "A Day Without A Woman".
