The 24th Annual induction ceremony of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has an all-star lineup of nominees. Among the nine talents who will duke it out for a rightful place among music’s legends are Bobby Womack, Run-D.M.C., War and Chic. The top five winners will be announced next February, and will be inducted into the hall of fame on April 4, 2009. Rap pioneers Run-D.M.C., who broke barriers with the Aerosmith cover “Walk This Way,” are also up against English rock band Jeff Beck, pioneer rocker Wanda Jackson, and R&B crooners Little Anthony and the Imperials. Chic’s producers Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards created some of the finest dance singles of the disco era including “Good Times,” “Le Freak,” “Everybody Dance,” and “I Want Your Love.” Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Michael Jackson, and the late Isaac Hayes are a few of the inductees honored in the past.
