Roland Burris: Sworn Into U.S. Senate

Roland Burris can finally take a seat after officially replacing President-elect Barack Obama in the U.S. Senate, according to the Associated Press. Burris had to wait more than week after all the other junior senators were sworn in because of the controversy surrounding his appointment by Illinois Governor. Rod Blagojevich, who was recently indicted. Burris becomes the Senator’s only Black member and cast his first vote on whether to allow Obama access to $350 billion bailout reserve, immediately after being sworn in—-WLW
