The Good Morning America host says her blood count numbers look great.
It’s been 25 days since Robin Roberts entered the hospital for a bone-marrow transplant, and the Good Morning America host says her blood count numbers look great, reports PEOPLE.
“My doctors and rock star nurses are very pleased with my progress and I could not be more thankful for the excellent care I am receiving,” she wrote in a message on the ABC News blog. “I am hopeful that I MAY be well enough to continue my recovery at home next week and my sister’s plan to come back to NYC for that milestone in my journey.”
Roberts’ sister Sally-Ann donated the bone marrow cells for the procedure and the GMA host says the “stem cells apparently feel right at home in my body—an answer to so many prayers.”
Although Roberts is on a path to recovery, she shared that there are still some painful days ahead. Eating has been particularly difficult for her since she underwent chemotherapy. However, she’s remains in good spirits. “I truly FEEL and thank you for your love, prayers and good wishes,” she added.
In related news, Ann Romney, the wife of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, will fill in for Roberts as a host on GMA on October 10th, reports the Hollywood Reporter. An array of guest celebrity host shave filled in for Roberts since her departure last month.
