Rob Schneider Tries To School John Lewis On MLK Day, But Social Media Wasn’t Having It
By Mariya Moseley · Updated October 26, 2020

During Martin Luther King Jr. Day, ex-Saturday Night Live comic Rob Schneider tried to lecture Congressman John Lewis on how to approach civil rights issues.

Rep. Lewis. You are a great person. But Dr. King didn't give in to his anger or his hurt. That is how he accomplished & won Civil Rights.

Congressman John Lewis should finally focus on the burning and crime infested inner-cities of the U.S. I can use all the help I can get!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 15, 2017

However, people on social media questioned Schneider’s relevancy (and authority to even comment on the subject) and many immediately criticized him for his remarks.

When I saw that Rob Schneider was trending I thought the absolute worst. I thought he was making another movie.

The actor, who stars in films like Deuce Bigalow, The Hot Chick, 50 First Dates and The Animal, sent his commentary as an echo to the attack on Lewis, which was tweeted by President-elect Donald Trump just a few days before the federal holiday.
