Rihanna is setting music aside for her newest project. The Grammy award-winning singer will play the first Black lead character in Dreamworks’ upcoming 3D animated film, Home. In it Rihanna will voice Tip, a teenage tomboy who helps a group of aliens find their new home.
According to Metro, director Tim Johnson describes the film as a post-apocalyptic-alien-invasion-buddy-comedy. Based on the novel The True Meaning of Smekday, the synopsis states: “When Earth is taken over by the overly-confident Boov, an alien race in search of a new place to call home, all humans are promptly relocated, while the Boov get busy efficiently reorganising the planet.”
In addition to acting, Rihanna will craft an album featuring original songs from the animated film.
The movie is scheduled to be released November 26.
