Grammy-nominated gospel singer and composer Reverend Timothy Wright was pronounced dead yesterday at Bronx Veterans Hospital at the age of 61.
Last summer, The Brooklyn-born singer was critically injured in a three-vehicle car accident that claimed the lives of his wife and grandson and left him fighting for his life on a respirator.
Best known for his songs “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,” “Who’s on the Lord’s Side,” and “You Must Come In at the Door,” the Godfather Of Gospel topped the Billboard charts and earned Grammy nods for his 1994 record, “Come Thou Almighty King” with the New York Fellowship Mass Choir and his 1999 album, “Been There Done That.”
