The highest-ranking African-American member of the House of Congress is telling newly confirmed Illinois Senator Roland Burris to finish his term and then get out. Representative Jim Clyburn doesn’t think Burris needs to resign now, but believes that he shouldn’t try to run in 2010 for the seat for which he was nominated by defunct governor Rob Blagojevich, according to Politico.com. Burris recently came clean about having prior contact with Blagojevich about the Senate seat vacated by President Obama prior to his nomination. He has since received a lot of pressure to resign.—WLW
