The actor, best known for playing George Jefferson, has died at 74.
Sherman Hemsley, best known for his role as the comical George Jefferson on TV’s All in the Family and its hit spin-off The Jeffersons, has died. He was 74.
TMZ reports that Hemsley passed away from natural causes in his El Paso, Texas, home. He was discovered by his nurse, who initially thought he was asleep.
The actor had no wife or children.
In addition to playing the iconic Mr. Jefferson, the Philadelphia native found success on the ’80s hit church show Amen, on which he played Deacon Earnest Frye.
