Coffee Talk: Prince and Chris Rock to Appear on ‘Saturday Night Live’

Prince and Chris Rock will return to Saturday Night Live on November 1. The reclusive singer rarely makes television appearances so this will certainly be a treat for His Purple Highness’s die-hard fans. The 2014 ESSENCE Fest headliner is expected to perform songs from his two new albums: Art Official Age, which debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard R&B chart, and PlectrumElectrum, which topped the Rock chart. Chris Rock, an SNL alum, last appeared on the show 18 years ago. Will you be tuning in?  [TIME]

FX’s American Horror Story: Freak Show, co-starring Angela Bassett, was the most-watched program in the network’s 20-year history, drawing in 10 million viewers for the season four premiere last week. It’s no surprise that the show has been green-lit for a fifth season. [FX]

Think Like a Man producer Will Packer is headed to the small screen! Packer sold a half-hour sitcom, Like Father, Like Son, to NBC. The show is based on real events drawn from Packer’s own life. The press release describes the premise as such: “A recently divorced man in his early thirties is just starting to enjoy the benefits of being young, successful and single when he learns he has a fifteen-year-old son from a one-night-stand he had in college.” Set your DVRs. Nick Cannon is officially the hardest working man in show business. Fox’s award-winning show Brooklyn Nine-Nine will add Cannon to the cast with a recurring role as the nephew of Captain Holt, played by Emmy-nominee Andre Braugher. When does this man sleep? [The Hollywood Reporter]
