ESSENCE Festival Headliner Prince made a grand appearance on the Arsenio Hall Show Wednesday night.
His Purple Highness took over the show as the sole guest of the evening, performing new music, sharing an enlightening Q&A with the audience and sitting down for an interview with Arsenio, where he revealed that although he is present in social media, he doesn’t actually have a cell phone. He assured Arsenio that this is a minor detail that doesn’t stop him from connecting because “everybody I know has one,” he said.
When it came to what he would be doing if he wasn’t Prince, he shared that he decided a long time ago that music was his calling.
“I got the Yellow Pages out and I didn’t find anything I wanted to do, so I decided I was going to become a musician and win at it.” he said, later revealing that if he had to choose a different path he’d “want to teach in some capacity.” The notoriously private singer also shared details of his personal life, saying that he can make a mean omelet and that his ultimate pet peeve is “strangers touching my hair.”
He also performed three songs, including “FUNKNROLL,” from his upcoming album Plectrum Electrum with his group 3RDEYEGIRL. Watch Prince and an 11-piece band rock the stage below.
